TwoDog Forest Inventory Suite: PocketDog Exporter for ArcMap®
(Pittsfield, NH) December 8, 2009—Fountains America, a forest management, land brokerage, and GIS services company based in Pittsfield, New Hampshire, announces the first direct link between ArcMap and the TwoDog Forest Inventory Suite through the PocketDog Exporter for ArcMap®.
PocketDog Exporter installs as a toolbar within ArcMap and enables the user to export stand and point attributes stored in the GIS to PocketDog or for email to remote personnel. Exportable stand attributes include a stand identifier, stand stratification, acreage, and a tract identifier. Point attributes include the point number and the ability to designate each point as volume or basal area when conducting point double samples. All these attributes are then available in PocketDog complete with inventory points stratified into the proper stands. Once in PocketDog there is no longer a need to manually create stands or point numbers and properly allocate points into stands. Simply pick from a point list and enter tree data.
The Exporter will improve inventory organization and mission planning by allowing the user to create multiple PocketDog files based on attributes in the stands layer. Create individual PocketDog files based on map ID, compartment, stand number, cover type, or even the intended timber cruiser. Harness the power of ArcMap by only exporting the selected records in your stand and point layers. Managers are able to plan their inventories and create PocketDog files ready for distribution to inventory personnel.
PocketDog Exporter will greatly reduce inventory startup time, data entry errors, and the amount of time needed to validate data returning from the field. This utility will ensure time in the woods is spent measuring trees and that field data matches GIS data.
