History

fountains was originally established as a forestry management operation in South West England in 1957, trading under the name of Fountain Forestry. The forestry management base grew substantially during the 1970s, with further operations in England, Wales and Scotland. In 1980, fountain forestry was incorporated in the US to provide UK investors access to natural hardwood forests in the stable US economy and currency. In 1989, a land brokerage subsidiary, fountains realty, was formed. Over the next two decades, through growth, acquisitions and strategic alliances, the forestry and real estate operations continued to expand. In 2005, a GIS consulting firm was acquired and a new subsidiary, fountains spatial, was launched.

In 2006, US operations reorganized under the banner of fountains america,with three subsidiaries: fountain forestry, fountains real estate and fountains spatial. fountains america is a subsidiary of fountains plc.

In 2008, fountain forestry was officially renamed fountains forestry; fountains real estate was renamed fountains land.

Where does the name "fountains" come from?

The name fountains comes from Fountain House, a prestigious post-war building in London with a fountain in the entrance hall, which served as the original location for Fountain Forestry in 1957. Fountain was modified to fountains after becoming a public company in 1997.
